Indigenous Literacy Day (ILD) is celebrated every year on the first Wednesday of September.

Date: First Wednesday in September. ILD is hosted by the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, an Australian not-for-profit charity that aims to improve literacy in remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Each year has a theme, resources and events catered to improving literacy for mob.

ILD aims to improve awareness of the struggles our community face in the educational system and acts as a fundraiser to collect resources for our kids in remote communities.

Check out the Indigenous Literacy Foundation website for more information.
